TPG’s mandate from the client was bold in its simplicity: design a dynamic new workplace that reflects the evolving culture of its industry. President-CEO of the 4A’s wanted the organization’s new office to not only mirror the open-plan, collaborative style evident in the offices of its membership, but to also lead those members into a bold and creative future. As part of her vision for the organization, she announced that there would be no private offices in the new workspace.
Founded in 1917, the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s) is the national trade association representing the ad agency business in the US. In its relocation from 405 Lexington Avenue to the 23,000 square foot 16th Floor of 1065 Avenue of the Americas, TPG aimed to create a more dynamic space for the organization to capture the spirit of a current American advertising agency.
Overcoming challenges that included relatively low ceiling heights, numerous large columns and an unfinished terrace, the design team created an environment that supports 4A’s mission and enables the organization to work in new ways.
