Steps away from two subway stations, 33-37 Maitland is a 49-storey residential tower designed to thoughtfully respond to its context. The design choices of the lower podium’s angled façade, recessed upper podium, and cantilevering of the tower floors, all work together to highlight the 19th century heritage building and visually integrate it into the new development, creating an improved public realm at grade. Creative use of structural systems enable the unlocking of the site’s re-development potential, while maintaining a delicate balance of old and new.
