The new school complex in Goro (FE), still under completion, covers a 13,320 m² plot and spans 3,225 m² on a single floor. The project includes a kindergarten, a primary school, and a first-grade secondary school, designed with modern, functional spaces for learning, integrated harmoniously into the surrounding environment. The buildings are not only an educational hub but also a cultural and youth center for the community.
The site plan consists of two separate buildings, one for primary and first-grade secondary school, the other for kindergarten. While maintaining their individual identity, the volumes integrate smoothly into the urban context. Pedestrian pathways lead to a central "Piazza," the heart of the complex, providing secure access to the buildings. Each structure has its own independent entrance, ensuring controlled access even outside school hours.
The central spine of the project serves as an exchange zone between public and educational spaces. Green areas are designed to create both public and private spaces, fostering social interaction. Furniture and plantings encourage dialogue and interaction with nature. The design is envisioned as a true civic center, blending educational activities with services open to the community, allowing both students and citizens to engage in a shared, dynamic space.
The project features connecting pathways between the buildings to ensure full accessibility for all users, alongside the redesign of external parking areas. Emphasis is placed on safety, with seismic and fire protection solutions, and complete accessibility by eliminating architectural barriers. The building meets NZEB energy standards, focusing on renewable energy sources to cover energy needs and reduce gas and electricity consumption.
