Located just moments from Fifth Avenue, this new boutique residential building responds to its layered surroundings- a block where historic masonry buildings, modern supertalls, and cultural landmarks like MoMA all converge.
The design of 18 West 55th is guided by a sensitivity to scale, materiality, and rhythm. Its façade reinterprets classic Midtown motifs through a modern lens: double-height window bays and vertical piers establish proportion and permanence while subtly echoing the detailing of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church across the street. A refined palette of limestone and bronze draws from the neighborhood’s historic fabric and Fifth Avenue landmarks such as the Peninsula Hotel.
Within, the interiors also draw on the surrounding architecture and urban context to create warm, sophisticated spaces that appeal to high-end renters. The design balances traditional and contemporary elements with rich, timeless materials, such as plaster, bronze, and travertine. Units feature clean, classic profiles with a polished, neutral palette, while bathrooms feel bright and airy with refined proportions and textural contrast.
Conceived as a true infill project, 18 West 55th Street introduces a quiet elegance that enriches the pedestrian experience. At street level, its retail frontage extends the energy of Fifth Avenue onto West 55th Street, strengthening connections between landmark institutions and the neighborhood’s commercial vitality.
18 West 55th’s stone-drenched lobby makes a striking first impression, anchored by a sculptural marble reception desk and enveloped in seamless travertine cladding. The space is both calming and immersive, conceived as a refined transition- an elegant threshold between the energy of the city and the serenity of the residences beyond.
Natural light floods residences through large, operable windows. Kitchens feature clean, classic profiles with a polished, neutral palette, while bathrooms feel bright and airy.
A thoughtfully curated amenity collection extends the experience of home with a two-story co-working lounge, media room, fitness center, golf lounge, and screening room. Natural color palettes and authentic materials anchor each space in quiet luxury, reflecting the neighborhood’s sophistication and modern elegance.
