The proposed mixed-use building will transform an underutilized site into a vibrant setting with creative offices, a restaurant and retail space. The design uses contemporary compositional approaches while also paying homage to the varied and provocative physical surroundings. At once part of the urban fabric while standing out amidst Hollywood’s backdrop, it is a star among stars. The building adds prominence and much needed density to the underused site and area, using carving, blocking, and stepping to help transition the scale shift from the residential bungalows to the west. Referencing adjacent building forms, arched openings are used within the plinth to create an external colonnade and display the building's program. Arches vary in size and scale to provide relief and playfulness to the more rigid articulation of the frame’s upper volumes. The use of material is carefully controlled to include glass, white and pink pigmented concrete, and perforated metal cladding.
