Volkan Alkanoglu is the founding principal of Volkan Alkanoglu | DESIGN LLC and offers an explicit international background. He was born in Turkey, raised in Germany, and studied architecture at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, Peter Behrens School of Architecture in Düsseldorf and received his Master of Architectural Design degree with Distinction at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, UK.
His research and design work has been exhibited at several institutions including the Royal Academy of Arts in London and has been featured in international publications. In 2006, Volkan Alkanoglu was nominated for the Young Architect of the Year Award in the UK, in recognition of exceptional contributions to the progress of architecture. Volkan Alkanoglu has collaborated as a Designer and Architect in several architectural practices in Germany, England, and the USA. During his experience as Project Architect, he has worked on many award winning projects with highly acclaimed international status.
Within his academic background, Volkan Alkanoglu has taught at the Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta after having served as the Director of Professional Studies. He was appointed previously as the TVS Design Distinguished Critic and held a long term faculty position at SCI-Arc, the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles, California.
Volkan Alkanoglu is a registered Architect with the AKNW (Architektenkammer Nordrhein-Westfalen) in Germany, and a LEED Accredited Professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in the USA.
