Tomás García Píriz Studio

Tomás García Píriz became architect in 2003, Phd from 2016, both at the University of Granada. Professor since 2004 at the Area of Architectural Design, ETSAG, Granada, Spain. His works and research have dealt with issues related to the landscape, infrastructure and the dynamics of change in the city of the 21st century or the relationships between heritage and contemporary architecture. In 2000, he would obtain the prestigious Caja de Arquitectos Scholarship to carry out a stay under the tutelage of the architect Alberto Campo Baeza. He combines his work in two different firms, CUAC Arquitectura and Tomas García Píriz Studio.

He has been visiting professor at different national and international universities such as the Modern University of Lisbon, Scuola di Architettura di Porto, KA Kobenhaum University of Copenhagen, Facoltà di Architettura di Alghero, Università di Sassari, Technische Universität Berlin and Academia di Architectura di Mendrissio, ETSA Madrid, EPFL, Lausanne. He has done research stays at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo) and ETSAG in Seville.

His work has been published in different national and international architecture magazines, such as Casabella, Bauwelt, Architectural Record, Architectural Review, Arquitectura Viva, Architecture Today, Via Arquitectura, Arquitectos, Pasajes de Arquitectura y Crítica, Pasajes Construcción, Oficina, ON Diseño, Negozzi, Contract Project, Architectural Margins, Interior Design, TC Notebooks, C3, Detail, etc ... His projects have been exhibited in different group exhibitions such as Global Design New York (London, 2012), ABOVEMM in Mexico; "Disposed Architectures" in Seville, Évora, Madrid and Shanghai, the Spanish Pavilion at the XI and XV "Mostra Internazionnale di Architettura di Venezia" (2008 and 2016), "XI Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism" and at "Europan” 2012, 2014 and 2016 editions.

His work has been widely awarded, highlighting the awards of Selected "FAD Awards" 2011, Finalist "FAD Awards" 2007, 2016 and 2018, Listed in the "Next Arquia Awards" (Editions 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014), Awarded "Architizer Awards ”2015, Finalist“ AR AWARD2 2012, Selected “XIII BIAU”, Selected “ENOR Awards” 2017, Selected and Finalist “XIII BEAU”, Finalist and Winner IV, V, VI edition “COAGR Awards”, Finalist “Bauwelt Award” 2015 ... In 2016 his old firm CUAC ARQUITECTURA was awarded the prestigious DESIGN VANGUARD (2016) award with which the influential Architectural Record magazine (New York) would recognize 10 emerging practices worldwide.
