Síol Studios was founded in 2007 on the shared belief that space can be transformational. They work at the intersection of architecture, interior design, landscape, and client services—creating spaces informed by history, the needs of the individual and the collective, and our desire to stimulate our innate senses. Our design practice works across the urban-rural divide and currently has outposts in San Francisco and Marin County; New York City and the Hudson River Valley; and Lisbon and Cascais.
As a practice, Síol works interdisciplinarily, weaving architecture, interior design, and landscape into a cohesive whole. The firm places a special focus on staff fulfillment, working to create teams that are well-supported and individuals can best contribute their strengths and expertise. Síol’s work is narrative-driven; each aspect of a project is linked via a single conceptual thread that affects everything from the way bowls sit on a shelf in the kitchen to how the roof plane meets a wall. The studio is also a leader in post-occupancy practices, providing clients with concierge services that help them transition into their space, as well as adapt it as they grow into it.
In 2022, Síol spoke at the Monterey Design Conference, where they were recognized as emerging talent. Education is a touchstone for the firm with all principals participating in mentorship and teaching from high school to college and beyond. Their work recently received an award from California Home + Design and has been featured in Dwell, The New York Times, Interior Design, Wallpaper, and Corriere della Sera, among others.
