About
Salles Schaffer Architecture believes that the strength of a design firm lies in its ability to produce designs that look amazing and perform exceptionally well. Our goal is to create a balance between function and aesthetic that emerges from the inside and is expressed on the outside. We bring this design philosophy to all of our projects, working with clients to develop unique, conceptual design solutions. SSA’s recently completed Connecticut House follows this inside/outside philosophy, bringing nature inside the home via large windows and a planted green roof, and creating a harmony through colorful and sustainable design. SSA has designed on many scales, from textile design and interior design, to apartment and artist studio renovations, to freestanding buildings.
Julie Salles Schaffer is president of Salles Schaffer Architecture and designs for both residential and commercial projects. Educated at Cornell University (BS, Interior Architecture) and Columbia University (Master of Architecture), she has won several design excellence awards, including NY Society of Architects’ Matthew Del Gaudio Prize. She has taught at Pratt Institute and Parsons The New School for Design, and has been featured in various publications, including Architecture Magazine, Elle Décor, VOGUE, Kitchens and Baths and ARTNews.
