Openworkstudio is dedicated to creating quality architecture design that is crafted through research, creativity and years of experience. The practice works in different social and spatial contexts, providing architecture, interior design, master planning, restoration consultancy and environmental design. The office’s projects range from the larger scale to smaller interventions, from residential to commercial, with a skilled team concerned with every detail, from the initial concept phase, through to the final finishing and construction stage. The office staff incorporates various disciplines to create strong and lasting experiences.
Every project at Openworkstudio is driven by its work ethic: a strong collaborative spirit within the team, with its clients and project collaborators, an intrinsic responsibility towards context, a high degree of sensitivity towards heritage, and an environmentally conscious approach to design. These core values are the foundations of each project undertaken.
Openworkstudio’s diverse team advances this vision though research, ingenuity, thoroughness, analytical understanding and a broader exploration of the programme, responding to contemporary issues creatively to reach beyond the traditional boundaries of conventional practice.
Openworkstudio approaches projects critically, probing the specificities from different angles and areas of expertise: fusing architectural and interior design, detailing and material knowledge, restoration and adaptive reuse, structural engineering and environmental considerations, to deliver the best to its clients by exploiting its knowledge base and experience to the full extent.
Founded in 2016 by Alberto Miceli-Farrugia, Joanna Spiteri Staines, Debby De Domenico, Greta Caruana Smith, and, the drive, vision and expertise of the office is focused on building on the rich urban, historical and cultural contexts of Malta and its people, to deliver meaningful solutions for its clients.
