O'Neill McVoy Architects

Architecture transforms the everyday through contours of space and material, animated by light, for heightened awareness of time and nature.

We formed O’Neill McVoy Architects in 2012 to make sensate architecture by illuminating the latent potential of the specific contingencies of a project – the special qualities of site and the client’s aspiration. To paraphrase Thomas Edison: “...there are no rules here; we’re trying to accomplish something.”

Beth O’Neill runs the practice, bringing 25 years of experience realizing ambitious residential and commercial projects in the New York area including Children’s Museum of Art and Wieden+Kennedy (with Work AC), Theory and Kate Spade (with Rogers Marvel) and several houses (with Peter Wheelwright). She holds a B.A. in History from Smith College, a B.A. in Environmental Design from Parsons School of Design and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University.

Chris McVoy collaborates on design and details with Beth. He is the Senior Partner of Steven Holl Architects where he has co-designed with Steven Holl several internationally recognized, award-winning projects including The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art Bloch Building, Kansas City; The University of Iowa School of Art and Art History, Iowa City; Columbia University Campbell Sports Center, New York; The Lake Whitney Water Purification Plant and Park, Hamden, Conn; Stadgenoot Office Headquarters, Amsterdam; and the Glasgow School of Art New Building, Glasgow. Chris holds a B.A. in Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University.
