Oikonomakis Siampakoulis architects is an incorporated design studio based in Athens, Greece, operating within the boundaries of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, interior design and object design. Recent and on-going works of the studio include the renovation of a parking garage facility at the city centre of Athens, two residential complexes in Crete, a series of custom-made objects and furniture, the renovation of three apartments in Athens originally built between 1960 and 1980, the restoration of a 19th century small traditional stone residency in Crete, as well as the renovation and addition for a summer residency in West Attica. The studio's portfolio also includes participations in European design contests for public, educational and cultural buildings. Works of Oikonomakis Siampakoulis architects have appeared in the specialized and general press, including Archdaily, Architizer, EK Magazine, Ktirio, Archisearch, iefimerida and New Money. In 2023 UK construction magazine BUILD awarded the studio the title of the ‘Best Emerging Architecture Office’ in Greece and named the studio's parking garage work as the ‘Most Transformative On-going Infrastructure Project’ in Athens for that year. Also in 2023, US media Architizer listed the studio on n. 13 of its annual inventory with the ‘30 Best Architecture Offices in Greece’.
Ilias Oikonomakis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1990. He holds a Diploma in Architecture Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2015), and an MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design from the AA - Architectural Association School of Architecture in London (2017). At the AA his studies were supported by the School’s bursary fund. Oikonomakis is a registered architect with the Technical Chamber of Greece. Prior to establishing his own practice, he collaborated with Protopapa studio, Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, Heatherwick studio, and with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a research and design associate. He is currently a PhD candidate at the National Technical University of Athens.
Angelos Siampakoulis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1990. He holds a Diploma in Architecture Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2016), and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urbanism from the ΜΙΤ - Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT he was a Fulbright Fellow, a fellow of the Harry D Triantafillu Scholarship Fund, the Onassis Foundation, the Gerondelis Foundation and the Cyprus Children’s Fund. Siampakoulis is a registered architect with the Technical Chamber of Greece. Prior to establishing his own practice, he collaborated with Miralles Tagliabue EMBT in Barcelona, 40.22 Architects in Thessaloniki, BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group in Copenhagen, and Perkins&Will in Boston.
