NODE Studio, founded in 2016 under the leadership of Architects Doğan Türkkan and Hande Türkkan, commenced its professional journey in Istanbul, Turkey. Since its establishment, the studio has actively participated in numerous national and international architectural competitions, some of which have resulted in accolades and awards, providing opportunities for the implementation of awarded projects. Within this framework, NODE Studio has demonstrated commitment to "Urban and Architectural Production" methodologies through its participation in competitions declared within the contexts of "Architecture" and "Urban Planning," which entail high-quality criteria.
NODE Studio sees the act of architectural design as a process of reasoning where perceptions and logic play an active role. The design and production process embody a horizontal maturation state characterized by interwoven and hybridized structures. Design is delineated not through a fixed "Style" but through a "Process." In this context, the responsibility of the designer extends not only to the present but also to the future.
Beyond all perceptions, understandings, and apprehensions, one of the most significant factors limiting design for NODE Studio is not the designer's imagination but rather the technical and technological capabilities at hand. NODE Studio adopts an interdisciplinary approach, striving to become a tool developer by refining its own digital design tools and components.
Rather than being motivated by a pursuit of finding the ideal final form, which demands continuity and is shaped by a network of relationships, design for NODE Studio is characterized by an understanding that it can be defined in its cyclic process, allowing for the freezing of any time-based parameter or the emergence of shapes contingent upon variably defined relationships. Giving precedence to the sense of sight over the Cartesian thought and the direct relationship claimed to exist between reason and the mind, it has been acknowledged that perception can be deceptive. Ultimately, this inclination has also been reflected in the quality criteria of space and architectural understanding. Put more succinctly, the ability of the relationship network constructed between the "Subject (User, Experiencer)" and the "Space (Experienced)" to remain relative (dependent on variables) without any limits and to transcend objectification with reflections influencing each other to a degree, yields outcomes distant from singular analyses. NODE Studio views the digital environment itself and the process as the primary sources enabling the emergence of these definitions.
Within the design context, NODE Studio adopts an environmentally conscious approach, embracing a respectful understanding towards humanity, nature, and the existence of all living beings. Accordingly, one of the main design criteria is ecological and sustainable approaches.
