For MNA, design is a collaborative process that is responsive without being dogmatic, resulting in fresh spaces that reflect the distinct character of each program and client. The goal of every design is clarity of concept, fluidity of space, and strength of detail. We are a small, close-knit group of designers with a high level of interaction. We like to give everything we work on a “hands-on” approach, as evidenced by many of our own in-house built mock-ups.
We bring that same attention to our relationship with the client. Our portfolio of work is diverse in flavor but consistent in its creativity and consistency of detail. We listen, observe and brainstorm with the client to create fresh approaches to both established brands and emerging brands. We have created prototype retail designs for Coach, Michael Kors, West Elm, Hold Everything, Lilly Pulitzer, Lucky Brand, Martin & Osa and Hurley. We have collaborated with long-time client, Ralph Lauren, since 1995 designing numerous stores nationwide as well as in international locations throughout Europe and Asia.MNA has completed a number of notable residential projects. Most recently, MNA was awarded first place in the prestigious 2006 Subzero/Wolf Kitchen Design Contest for a residential kitchen renovation on Manhattan’s
Upper East Side. Other residential projects include the renovation of a one-family brownstone in Greenwich Village, as well as numerous apartment renovations in New York City. In Big Sur, MNA designed the Ball Residence, a complex of buildings on a hilltop which includes a main house, two outbuildings and a lap pool. Custom furniture design is a hallmark of MNA’s residential work.We consider every project an occasion to explore. We like the challenge and the chance to play, and the opportunity bring attention and invention to every design.
