Menos é Mais Arquitectos is the office created in Oporto in 1994 by Francisco Vieira de Campos and Cristina Guedes.
Both graduated from Oporto School (FAUP), Francisco Vieira de Campos worked with Eduardo Souto de Moura (1989-1991) and Cristina Guedes with Álvaro Siza (1991).
They both teach, FVC (FAUP) and CG (FAULP), and have been invited for the final critics at Mendrisio Architecture Academy and ETH Zurich, Switzerland and dARQ-FCTUC, Coimbra, Portugal.
They have been invited for international lectures, workshops, seminars and exhibits at Milan, Cádiz, Oporto, Lisbon, São Paulo, New York, Napoles, Nancy, Ayamonte, Mantua, Viena, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Valencia, Montevideo, Barcelona, Logroño, Santiago de Compostela, Bochum, Venice. They have also taken part in both national and international award juries. Cristina Guedes acted as Commissary of Portugal at the IX BIAU New geographies.
Their main works are programmatic responses related to specific contexts: Quinta do Vallado Winnery and Hotel, Gaia Cablecar, ReOrdering of the Public Spaces of Social Housing Blocks in Oporto and Archipelago Contemporary Art Centre in Azores.
Their work has been been distinguished with various awards: shortlist for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2015, Best Of Wine Tourism 2013 Award with Quinta do Vallado Wine Hotel, Best Private Architectural Project at Prémios Construir 2012 with Quinta do Vallado Winery, Winner of the VIII Ibero-American Architecture and Urbanism Biennial (VIII BIAU) with the Gaia Cablecar. finalist of Premis FAD (2013 and 2012), honourable mention at the Douro Architecture Award (2010/2011), shortlist for the Mies van Der Rohe Award (2009), honourable mention at IHRU Award of Construction and Rehabilitation (2008) and nominations for the Architecture Award in the V and VI Ibero-American Architecture and Urbanism Biennial (2008 and 2006), Secil Award 2012, 2008 (shortlist) and 2006 and Premis FAD 2002.
