McGregor Coxall
Our multi- disciplinary services merge the traditional boundaries of urbanism, landscape architecture, and ecology to create integrated design and planning solutions that create value for our clients’ projects. Our work often brings developers, government, and community together to create mutually beneficial results. We are adept at securing approvals for politically complex master planning projects that require a combination of design excellence and strategic community and political consultation.
Adrian McGregor established mcgregor+partners in 1998 in Sydney and was joined by fellow director Philip Coxall in 2000 after he returned from ten years working in Europe and Asia. The two studied landscape architecture together at Canberra University in the mid 1980’s. The practice changed its name to McGregor Coxall in 2009 and has completed over 300 projects with the specific aim of pursuing design excellence founded on environmental, social and economic principles.
In early 2011 the Melbourne office was established by Mark Haycox. Mark joined the firm with more than twenty years experience in urban design, landscape architecture and environmental management having worked in private practice and as VicUrban’s senior urban designer across a wide portfolio of projects.
With the opening of the Shanghai office in late 2011 the firm consolidated it’s ability to service Asian projects and clients.
The McGregor Coxall team is made up of internationally experienced urban designers, landscape architects, architects and graphic designers who are assisted by a talented and committed support group working in a collaborative and ethical workplace. The firm has worked on projects located across Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
The firm has received more than 50 awards including the prestigious Topos journal International Landscape Architecture Practice of the Year 2009 presented in Reykjavík Iceland in the Alvar Aalto designed Nordic House. McGregor Coxall are the first non-European firm to win the German Award with the jury citing the design quality and innovation of our projects alongside our potential to make significant future contributions in landscape architecture and urbanism to global practice.
In 2010 we were awarded the World Waterfront Award for Ballast Point presented in the U.S. city of Baltimore. The firm is active in the international design competition arena and has been awarded three first prizes with second tier placing in eight others. Our work continues to be published in numerous Australian, European and Asian design publications and web sites.
Complimenting our design skills is a technologically advanced set of business and management systems that led the company to be selected as one of the finalists in the Telstra small business awards from 4000 entries. As a flexible, fast moving, tech savvy team we regularly collaborate with other firms and disciplines either as lead consultant or as a design team member.
Supporting our design services are effective project management and enabling skills that have been demonstrated across a wide range of project scales, from the design of entire cities, to regional plans and fine grain site designs. This ensures the budgetary and programmatic requirements of our projects are met.
