Founded in 2013 by Alex Mok and Briar Hickling, Linehouse creates bold, poetic projects with compelling narratives, distinctive spatial experiences with a focus on craft and placemaking.
Working across architecture, interiors, and objects, we approach each project with curiosity rather than prescription, balancing function and aesthetics to craft the design. Each project is shaped by rigorous research and developed holistically and collaboratively across disciplines and studios. Our work celebrates local vernaculars, daily rituals, and memories, while addressing contemporary needs.
Materiality and craft are central to our process. We believe the extraordinary can emerge from the ordinary, using experimentation and making as tools to transform familiar elements into immersive spaces that feel both grounded and unexpected.
With studios in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Auckland, Linehouse works internationally across hospitality, retail, F&B, workplace, and residential projects. Our work is collaborative and bridges disciplines to create holistic conceptually driven projects.
