Landing Studio designs architecture and industrial infrastructure and landscapes. Our principal focus is to develop design tactics for positively integrating active global industries and infrastructures into their local contexts. Since 2005, Landing Studio has worked on projects with port facilities and communities in Boston and New York through the design of headquarters buildings, port infrastructure, demolition plans, shared industrial/public park landscapes, light installations, festivals, museum exhibitions, and industrial/community operations agreements. Research includes the study of port facilities, ocean transport, mining operations, and industrial ecologies around the world.
As architects our fascination for working with different infrastructures and landscapes is the opportunity to study and unearth the unique physical, historic, and operating languages of a place and translate this understanding into contextually tuned built forms that create new and unique experiences. This goal and approach is a fundamental aspect that we aspire to in all of our design work, from temporary installations to architecture to industrial infrastructures.
