The practice of Kristin Jarmund Arkitekter AS, established in 1985, has during the years attained a high profile on the architectural scene in Norway. This is confirmed with a series of awards and 1st prizes received in both private and open competitions. Today the practice maintains disciplines of Architecture, Planning and Interior Design.
The practice’s best known works are a range of renowned schools (Råholt, Gjerdrum) and university buildings (National Dental Faculty, Westerdals School of Communication), several headquarter buildings (Fokus Bank, Eitzen Group HQ, local HQ for Mercedes Benz) complex residential projects (Kvartal 42, Haslevangen) as well as a series of awarded interiors (The National Gallery in Oslo, The Arts and Crafts Museum in Bergen). The Norwegian Embassy Complex in Kathmandu, Nepal is a key project in the history of the office, bringing our Scandinavian design tradition in dialog with local building traditions. The office is currently expanding its international reach with the design for a combined Embassy for Norway and the Netherlands in Nairobi, Kenya.
The practice´s design philosophy aims at solutions that reduce complex problems to simplicity in form and function, yet still allowing for a sensitive awareness to context and the human dimension. Whilst keeping a sharp eye on the end result, we are well aware that good results come from successful processes. Making great architecture has always been a team-effort.
Now more than ever the result of our work depends on a close collaboration with a number of players; the client, public administration, specialised consultants, conservation authorities and above all the end users. At Kristin Jarmund Arkitekter AS we have the skills and experience to guide and nurture the process through every phase of a project, from public planning through schematic design and construction documents - to successful execution on site.
