Kokkugia is an architecture practice exploring generative design
methodologies developed from the complex self-organising behaviour of
biological, social and material systems. Kokkugia was founded in
Melbourne in 2004, emerging from a long-standing collaboration between
Jonathan Podborsek, Roland Snooks and Robert Stuart-Smith. It is a
networked practice working internationally out of New York and London
operating through design, research and teaching.
Kokkugia’s work has been published extensively and exhibited
internationally, including in New York, Beijing, Xi’an, Melbourne,
Moscow, Kiev, Torino, Philadelphia and San Francisco. Kokkugia were
nominated for the Chernikov Prize in 2006 and named the Australian
Curators for the 2008 Beijing Biennale. The directors of Kokkugia have
taught at numerous architecture schools including: AA DRL, Columbia
GSAPP, uPenn, SCI-Arc, UCLA, Pratt and RMIT. Kokkugia are currently
working on projects in Australia and Mexico.
