IwamotoScott Architecture is an award winning architecture and design firm established by Lisa Iwamoto and Craig Scott. Based in San Francisco, California, the firm has gained national and international recognition for innovative design with projects around the country and overseas. Committed to pursuing architecture as a form of applied design research, IwamotoScott proceeds from the belief that each project can achieve a unique design synthesis. IwamotoScott's client list includes arts organizations, educational institutions, media firms, commercial developers, and private clients. Our projects consist of work at all scales including urban design, buildings, interiors, full-scale fabrications, museum installations and exhibitions, and theoretical proposals.

Honors for the firm include the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt 2019 National Design Award; Architectural Record's 2018 Women in Architecture New Generation Leader Award; 2018 induction into the Interior Design Hall fo Fame; ACADIA's 2017 Digital Practice Award of Excellence; Curbed's 2015 Groundbreakers Award; Architectural Record’s 2011 Design Vanguard, CA Home + Design’s 2011 Ten to Watch, and The Architectural League of New York’s 2007 Emerging Voices and 2002 Young Architects (now League Prize) awards. IwamotoScott’s work has been exhbited in over seventy five galleries, museums and other venues including the National Design Triennial at Smithsonian/Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, Vitra Design Museum/Art Center College of Design, the Guggenheim Museum, MoMA/PS1, Southern California Institute of Architecture, Artists Space Gallery, and the work is represented in the permanent collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. IwamotoScott’s work has been included in over one hundred fifty books, journals and newspapers; and Lisa and Craig have lectured on the work of the firm at over seventy professional, academic, and arts institutions worldwide.
Lisa Iwamoto received a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard's Graduate School of Design, and a BS in Structural Engineering from University of Colorado. Craig Scott received a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard's Graduate School of Design, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University. Iwamoto is Chair and Professor of Architecture in the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley. She previously taught in the architecture program at Taubman College, University fo Michigan, and as visiting faculty at Harvard GSD, Cornell University, SCIArc and Sydney University. Scott is Professor of Architecture at California College of the Arts. He previously taught in the architecture program at Taubman College, University fo Michigan, was Esherick Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley, and as visiting faculty at Harvard GSD, Syracuse University, SCIArc, Sydney University and Yale University.
