Founder and Chief Architect of hypersity
hyperSity, founded in Rotterdam in 2011 by architect Shi Yang, is a creative pioneer architectural practice and research studio. The core team of hyperSity is composed of young ducth licensed architects and urbanists with years of working experiences in the internationally renowned offices, including OMA|AMO in Rotterdam, RMJM in Hongkong, UNStudio in Amsterdam. With the opening of the Beijing Office in 2015, hyperSity is focusing on implementing their global ideas and experiences into the local conditions in China.
hyperSity is trying to address a range of issues that are pertinent worldwide, and particularly urgent in China. The researches about Russian mega city and hinterland,collaborated with OMA|AMO in Strelka Institute has been exhibited in 'Get it Louder' 2012, and published in 'project Russia' . The research 'Absobing modernity 1914-2014' participated in the 14th Venice architecture biennale, Chinese pavilion. Rearch work 'Lingnan Utopia' was participated in 2013 China contemporary Architecture Exhibition in Segovia, Spain. hyperSity has built an academic research platform with CAFA, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing
and currently working on the research of Chinese countryside in collaboration with Rem Koolhaas for the exhibition in Guggenheim in 2020.
The project types include public cultural buildings, commercial office buildings, residential buildings, old building renovation and interior design. hyperSity's successful implantation of life aesthetics into office space has made the 'woo space' brand a successful model for innovative co-working space. hyperSity also built a special cultural enterprise space for famous IP such as 'Weirdo Talk Creative Lab', Film studio 'Big Fish Begonia', Wu Sheng 'Contextual Laboratory'...ect
