Holzer Kobler Architekturen is engaged in architecture, exhibition design and scenography within a widely branched international environment. Architecture and scenography are manifested in our work through multifaceted themes and cultural contributions. Each project is designed to meet the specific demands of place, function and atmosphere, and thus each is unique. Complex themes are transformed into a perceptible atmosphere, rendering exhibitions on history and knowledge a spatial experience.
Holzer Kobler Architekturen accompanies all phases of each project, from initial ideas, concepts and design to the realisation and direction of the project. Thereby, close cooperative work with the contracting body is a matter of course for us, as are intensive deliberations about the project. Together with the contractors we work as a team towards the contextual and formal accomplishment of the exhibition.
We are endeavoured to present the contextual message of themes concisely and to mediate them to the audience by means of impressive images. The methods, imagery and visual possibilities are defined according to contextual demands and state of knowledge.
The spectrum of the projects that we have achieved thus far or that are still in planning ranges from permanent to special exhibitions in a classical museum context to presentations in visitors’ centres and expositions. The themes of our projects are correspondingly manifold. The museologically perfect presentation of large collections in museums of applied arts is equally part of our metier as the mediation of abstract themes and processes in a social or scientific context. In each case we select the media that is appropriate, from an all-encompassing installation to the exhibit of a treasure in a showcase, using old as well as modern techniques in projection.
