Heimat Architects, a Beijing-based architectural studio founded in 2017, approaches architecture as a thoughtful response to the realities of context. We integrate environmental, temporal, cultural, and everyday practices into our design process-seeking elegant solutions and layered meaning. Through architecture, we strive to reveal the poetry of daily life, create places of shared memory, and explore a spiritual home rooted in nature, time, and local identity.
Led by architects Zhang Dong Guang and Liu Wenjuan, Heimat Architects remains deeply engaged in both architectural practice and design research. The studio responds to complex challenges through multidisciplinary collaboration and diverse perspectives, delivering refined solutions grounded in the realities of construction. Our work spans a wide range of typologies—from cultural and educational buildings to lightweight “pop-up” structures, rural regeneration, public art, and sustainable tourism and leisure projects. Notable projects include: The Zone out Space, Learning Center of the University of Science and Technology of China, Luotuowan Bridge Renovation, Ban House, Fire Wings and CUHK Shanghai Centre.
