Estudio Guto Requena aims at the reflection on cyberculture and digital poetic narratives in design. The practice encompasses varied design scales – objects, interiors, buildings and cities, investigating the impact of digital technologies in the fields of information and communication on our daily lives, as well as its deployments regarding project. Guto is 34 years old and was born in Sorocaba, countryside of Sao Paulo State. He is an architect with a Master degree on Architecture & Urban Planning from USP - University of São Paulo. For nine years he was a researcher at NOMADS.USP – Center for Interactive Living Studies of the University of São Paulo (www.nomads.usp.br). In 2007 he presented his Masters’ dissertation, “Hybrid Habitation: Interactivity and Experience in the Cyberculture Era” (http://www.gutorequena.com.br/site_mestrado/intro.htm). He won awards such as “Best in Architecture Brazil - 2010” for nightclub HOT HOT, under category “Bars & Nightclubs” and BID 2012 – Bienal Ibero Americana de Design, as the best Space Design in Brazil for the Exhibition "Roteiro Musical de São Paulo". Guto had exhibited at Design Miami, Spazio Rossana Orlandi in Milan, Design Days Dubai, Santiago Bienal of Design in Chile, Mexico Design Week, Brazilian Bienal of Design in Belo Horizonte, Mint Shop during London Design Festival and Bienal Ibero Americana of Design in Madrid. He taught project design at Panamericana – School of Arts and Design – and at IED – European Institute of Design, in Sao Paulo – at both graduation and master levels. By the end of 2010, Guto had lectured on 70 workshops all over the country, and received the “Young Brazilian Awards” as recognition.
