de.Sign is an interdisciplinary practice with offices in New York and Mumbai, India. The firm’s recent work includes projects for community facilities, urban design and master plans for residential/mixed-use developments in Brooklyn, Queens and other sites in New York City including the Vintage Car/Maritime Museum in Sausalito, California. Viren Brahmbhatt (Principal) is an architect and urban designer. In addition to his independent architectural work and projects, Viren’s work has been focused on housing and design and planning of infrastructure in the city of New York. He has worked on various projects for the New York City Housing Authority on design and implementation of the Community Centers Program, GIS, urban design projects, a Master Plan for HOPE VI project in Brooklyn and new housing developments. He has also collaborated on several research and teaching projects with the School of Architecture & Urban Design and the Earth Institute at Columbia University. Viren is currently a Visiting Professor at the School of Architecture at Columbia University and Pratt Institute. Viren is well versed in working with local city agencies and the construction industry. Viren’s work is creatively engaged with issues concerning carbon-neutral design, sustainability and large-scale urban design concerns.
