Deborah Berke founded Deborah Berke Partners in 1982, and for over thirty years the firm has designed modern, true-to-place architecture. The firm’s diverse portfolio is concentrated in six areas: higher education, cultural institutions, private houses, multifamily residential developments, boutique hotels, and projects for mission-driven organizations. Among its most notable work is the Cummins Indy Distribution Headquarters in Indianapolis Indiana[9], the Rockefeller Arts Center at SUNY Fredonia, the Richardson Olmsted Campus in Buffalo, New York, the 21c Museum Hotels across the South and Midwest, and the New Residential Colleges at Princeton University. The firm is also known for its extensive adaptive reuse work.
In 2016, Deborah Berke was named the Dean of the Yale School of Architecture. She is the first woman to hold the position.
In 2017, the firm received a National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
In 2019, the firm promoted eight principals to full partners as a part of its commitment to diverse and multi-generational leadership.
