Cooper Robertson is an architecture and urban design firm based in New York City which provides design, programming, and development services to institutions, public agencies, private landowners, and property development clients.
In founding the firm in 1979, Alexander Cooper,
FAIA, ventured to provide the best service to clients and communities by pursuing excellence in two
distinct but related fields – architecture and urban
design. The underlying and unifying theme of
our work continues to attest that architecture,
planning, landscape, and urban design are critically
interconnected disciplines that must be taken
together to achieve lasting quality and value. Today
the firm is led in this mission by a management
committee comprised of Donald Clinton, AIA,
MRAIC, LEED AP, John Kirk, AIA, Bruce Davis, AIA,
LEED AP, Erin Flynn, RA, LEED AP, and Mike Aziz,
AIA. LEED AP.
Rather than being guided by abstract theories or a predetermined style, we tailor each project to its individual site, the immediate and regional surroundings, its cultural roots, and to its program, schedule, and cost requirements. We have found this approach to be as appropriate to the single-family house as to the largest urban design projects. No building or design component is seen as separate from its immediate landscape and overall environment. This approach naturally ensures that sustainability is an organic and fundamental aspect of all our work. A traditional approach to design is inherently “green.”
We are grateful to our provocative clients and dedicated staff for the work of the past, and remain committed to offering the highest standards now and into the future.
