For more than 25 years Biber Architects, and our predecessor firms, have been creating design work unconfined by traditional disciplines. Since 1985 when James Biber partnered with a graphic designer and an illustrator in his first Soho architectural office, the firm has seen design as a broad based highly interconnected discipline.
Our years at Pentagram expanded that idea to other architects, product designers and new media design. The evolution to ‘firm-based multi-valence’ is a natural next step for our team. Being an innovator in the multidisciplinary design world gives Biber Architects a perspective that few can exercise in the creation of a new design paradigm.
Design has experienced a series of revolutions over the last 25 years including the personal computer, parametric design, internet ubiquity, rapid prototyping, instant and real-time communications and the further separation of design and production. All of this has been irrevocably altered by changing global economics, energy and sustainability issues and the recent financial convulsions that have roiled the profession and design as a whole.
The design world has changed.
Biber Architects is a broad and exciting canvas: a new office space and a fresh approach to architectural work responding to a discipline experiencing enormous changes, responsibilities and opportunities.
In addition to our portfolio of museums, residences, stores, restaurants, schools and exhibitions Biber Architects is currently developing product innovations for the domestic/green market, as well as books on urban issues and architectural work.
We look forward to hearing from you.
