Architecture 53seven

Architecture 53seven
is focussed on the delivery of inventive architecture and urban design, with a
particular interest in developing new programmatic forms that reflect the complexities of the contemporary city.

Established by Jason O’Shaughnessy in 2000,
Architecture 53seven has developed a series of acclaimed projects in Ireland
and overseas and was nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary
Architecture – the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2009. The practice has been widely published and received several
awards, including a Special Commendation at the inaugural World Architecture Festival in Barcelona 2008, an AAI Special Award in 2008, and formed part of a select longlist for BD Young Architect of the Year in 2009 & 2008.  We have been successful in several architecture  competitions, have lectured extensively on architecture and related themes and have presented the Showcase Lecture at the European Architecture Student Assembly
(EASA)  as well as being included in the Defining Space International Symposium. We frequently use of our projects to help draw-out particular questions about a site, its histories and explore the urban grain through the  process of imaginative speculation. The result is that our built works are varied, multi-textural, and stimulating  environments in which people occupy with a degree of surprise and curiosity.
