Founded by architects Esteban Castro and Carla Carranza (Costa Rica), AARCANO is an architecture firm attracted to the process of change and transformation:
We’re motivated by research and the search for the essence and meaning behind our proposals, knowing that our project is a temporary footprint that is part of a grander scheme. We perceive architecture to be part of the present space, connecting the past and the future. Where we can practice pausing as a means to understand and respect, being able to observe, listen, and absorb, in order to respond to our surroundings with sensibility.
We believe we must regenerate, we are aware and responsible of the present moment, where human development and lifestyle have been disconnecting us from our own essence.
We are committed to each project purposefully reflects its language, form, and materials from collaboration and exploration. A space that cohabits peacefully in time and is enriched with those who inhabit it.
Each place we impact gives us the opportunity to create, to have alliances with architects, artisans, artists, builders, and masters, who are looking to get grounded and back to the earth. It’s an opportunity to connect and create architecture that settles in its place in a positive way, architecture that generates spaces for meditation, humility, respect, and connection.
The sketches and models represent our permanent interest of searching, creating a system of work, our studio, where we hope that it continues as a secret (aarcano) model. The projects we have developed include planning and development of interior design, housing projects, residential projects, conceptual studies, offices projects and mixed use developments.
