It’s official: The 2022 A+Product Awards, Architizer’s global awards program for building products, materials, lighting and furniture, will open for entries on April 18th this year. Brands can now pre-register for the program and begin preparing their submission materials for one of the industry’s most significant accolades.

Arguably the biggest differentiator between the A+Product Awards and other industry award programs is its jury, which comprises more than 200 practicing architects from some of the world’s most renowned firms. The influential nature of the jury panel means that the awards themselves carry a special weight in the AEC industry, with winning brands instantly boosting their reputation and establishing themselves as an innovator, verified by design professionals.

New for 2022: The “Best of the Year” Awards

New this season, the “Best of the Year” A+Product Awards are designed to celebrate products at the top of their technical or typological class. Brands are invited to submit products that excel in their field and score a “Best of the Year” Award for specialisms including:

  • Commercial Design
  • Residential Design
  • Innovation
  • Sustainable Design
  • Flexible Design
  • Health & Wellness – NEW!
  • Architectural Design – NEW!
  • Positive Impact – NEW!

A number of timely new categories have been added to the A+Product Awards roster this year, reflecting the growing importance of health-conscious, ethically-sourced products and materials in the minds of architects and designers who are specifying the buildings of tomorrow.

First, the Architectural Design Award is dedicated to products that are integral to the building’s envelope or structure. These are the products that enable architects to realize their creative vision. Eligible products include façade systems, cladding, glazing, windows and doors, roofing and flooring materials.

Secondly, the Positive Impact Award celebrates ethically-sourced building products that do good for the environment or society as a whole. Eligible products include products that are designed to be accessible to communities of all socio-economic contexts, products that are expressly non-harmful to people and the environment, or the product of a business model with humanitarian or other social goals.

Finally, the Health & Wellness Award celebrates the world’s best products and materials used in health and wellness settings. Eligible products include those used in healthcare architecture, such as hospitals, clinics, medical centers and mobile or temporary healthcare facilities, and products used in wellness-related architecture such as spas, leisure centers, bathhouses, wellness retreats, and both commercial and non-commercial bathrooms.

Follow in the Footsteps of the World’s Best Brands

Brands can enter both “Product Type” categories and “Best of the Year” categories, providing a multitude of ways to win. One such success story came in the shape of Vitrocsa, whose beautifully detailed single-track insulated invisible frame scooped the coveted A+Product Award in both the Commercial and Residential Design categories. Another notable winner last season was Patcraft, with their PVC-free resilient Meaning carpet taking the top prize in the Healthcare category.

Meanwhile, Solatube‘s LED Integrated fixture won the top accolade in the Flexible Design category, and Marvin received the top accolade in the Innovation category thanks to their Skycove, a contemporary reimagining of the traditional alcove window. Finally, LightArt‘s stunning Coil Collection Naturals, a series of 3D-printed pendants out of the company’s recycled waste, secured the Sustainable Design Award.

The 2022 A+Product Awards looks set to attract an even more competitive array of brands, and should make for an inspiring exhibition of design innovation when the Winners are announced later this year. To view the complete gallery of last season’s A+Product Award Winners, click here.
