Once again, the One Drawing Challenge poses a single, provocative question to entrants: Can you tell a powerful story about architecture in 2021 with just one drawing?
Competition Overview
At their best, architectural drawings are powerful visual story tellers, communicating a wide range of qualities about a building or space. With your One Drawing, you may choose to tell a story about any of the following:
- The atmosphere of interior or exterior space
- The mood or emotions that a piece of architecture conjures
- A social or political narrative that is framed by architecture
- A formal exploration of new architectural typologies or materials
- A utopian or dystopian landscape or space
- The experience or activity of a building’s inhabitants
With thousands of architectural images now at our fingertips, the One Drawing Challenge calls for submissions that defy convention, spark curiosity and make us pause to look closer. Last year’s amazing Winners and Commended Entries provide ample inspiration for how that can be done.
