Casa Zotoluca: An Introspective Refuge in Querétaro
Casa Zotoluca stands as a contemporary sanctuary where introspection and the enjoyment of indoor spaces are at the core of its design. Situated on a 260 m² plot, the house subtly integrates with its surroundings, using a palette of earthy tones that evoke the warmth of the land and the natural landscape of Querétaro. Without large windows exposing it to the outside, the residence focuses on fostering a more intimate connection with the interior spaces and the side garden. The solid, minimalist steel door blends seamlessly with the façade, offering a serene transition into the home.
Upon crossing the threshold, visitors are greeted by a wooden ceiling that serves as a visual guide leading to the heart of the house. The spaces are arranged around the side garden, a green oasis framed by an exposed brick wall. This garden, designed for tranquility and enjoyment, is the soul of the house, offering a spacious green area that invites contemplation and relaxation.
On the ground floor, the master bedroom becomes a personal retreat with direct access to a private rear garden—an exclusive corner where nature harmoniously blends with the architecture. The social areas, while cozy, follow the home's introspective design, providing privacy and serenity in every corner.
Moving up to the second floor, the family room becomes the central gathering space for family interactions, while the secondary bedrooms are designed with practicality in mind. Each bedroom has its own closet and private bathroom, maintaining a harmonious flow throughout the spaces that facilitates daily living without compromising on comfort.
Casa Zotoluca, beyond being an introspective space, prioritizes the well-being of its inhabitants. With a design that promotes natural ventilation and a strategic orientation, the house takes advantage of the region’s temperate climate and natural light to reduce energy consumption, without sacrificing the warmth and comfort of its interiors.
