The clients who are well-known players in the rightly famous Budapest night life, wished to open a speciality bar focused on tapas and champagne. The place had to have a generous but laid-back atmosphere at the same time.
At space planning it had to be concidered that the morning and the night opening hours have a different size demand. Therefore the guest space has been divided into three sections, each can be separated with curtains. One curtain separates the firs part of the space for daytime opening. Guests can enjoy daily business lunch here. Also the “lounge space” is separated by curtain, which makes the room suitable for private events.
The starting point of the design concept was to keep the tapas and champagne bar function in balance. The decoration wooden shutters evoke the atmosphere of Barcelona, and the custom-designed cage chandeliers meant to conjure up a Mediterranean ambiance, too. Zizi reflects contemporaty design: international designers’ and local artists’ works were successfully integrated. Octopus chandeliers by the Turkish Autoban and Fabio Novembre’s Nemo chairs are decorating the lounge area. But the most spectacularly the Hungarian Artist’s, Gyula Varnai’s gently glowing lenticular image contributes to the overall impression.
