The Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE) is one of the three Commodity Exchanges in China. The new ZCE building is located at the southern main entrance of the newly planned
Central Business District and serves as the gateway for visitors entering the district from the main boulevard.
The orientation, massing and functional organization of the building are organized to give prominence to its urban setting. In response to its site the south side of the tower is designed with a curved façade featuring a zigzag section profile. Each bay of the façade incorporates a horizontal operable hatch for natural ventilation and a slanted fixed glass
panel for maximum visibility, thus avoiding the appearance of random openings while providing improved transparency and comfort for occupants. The tower houses the offices of ZCE on the mid to upper levels and leasable offices on the lower levels. The podium portion of the building, located on the northern side, contains public facilities, including multiple bank branches, a multifunction hall, a cafeteria, a roof top garden and rentable conference rooms. The podium is clad with German limestone
and features a 6-story-high sky-lit atrium with balconies and cross bridges to enhance pedestrian circulation. A four-story enclosed garden at the top of the tower, adjacent to the
executive offices, has expansive views. At night the lighting turns this garden into an illuminated crown for the tower, a modern landmark of Zhengzhou.
