Remodeling gives new life to a building in addition to its new design. This remodel preserved existing elements, but also leaves an entirely new impression and adds social needs. Zeroplace meant to find a ‘zero point,’ at least between the change and the retention. Within a limited budget, the intent was to make a maximum impact, which was difficult but important. We decided on a few principles prior to the design.

1. Add new elements to the exterior that maintain the impression of the existing building.
- Tiles on the arches of the ground floor windows and exterior walls are also on the balconies of the second and third floors. Each of these elements was maintained to give a sense of change.

2. The exterior material is capable of maintaining the building’s original feel.
- We maintained the original colors of the exterior, only removing existing tiles or iron. It was also important to retain the property’s natural heterogeneous relationship with its surroundings.

3. The interior textures were retained, but everything has been colored white.
- The color contrast between the exterior and interior was meant to give the interior a feeling of escape. Interior materials and textures, similar to the exterior, neutralize the color change.

Nonetheless, Zeroplace is not limited to its construction and remodel. Appropriate furniture was selected in collaboration with a promising designer. Additionally, the website design unifies the physical Zeroplace with its virtual space.
