Located in ZED park, in the suburbs of West Cairo, The Sports Facility is the largest shipping containers structure in Egypt. Responding to the client’s demand for a structure that could be fast tracked, Shipping Containers were the optimum option due their fast and easy construction as well as their sustainability and durability.

The ground-breaking project is used to serve as a football academy for the youth. The project seeks to redefine the typology of sports facilities in Egypt, aiming towards reaching more sustainable designs in the country.

The project comprises 26 shipping containers, (4 of the 20-feet module and 22 of the 40-feet module), that are stacked up and put together to form a 2-storey sports facility. The facility serves young footballers, their families and coaches along with the facilities’ management team. The ground floor consists of changing rooms and cloakrooms, a clinic, and administration offices. As for the upper floor, it consists of two meeting rooms, an office, a VIP lounge and an outdoor decked lounge, both having a direct panoramic view of the football field.

The design is defined by its iconic 4-meter cantilevered shipping containers creating a shaded outdoor space for the ground floor area where the players and coaches meet and socialize.
