The showroom has been designed in cooperation with the Italian headquarter.
Ernestomeda is a luxury Italian kitchen brand with showrooms in all the world.
We were commissioned to design the new 200 sqm shop located in Shanghai downtown.
The client required to develop the concept following the headquarter guide lines, but also considering the Chinese trend and taste.
Planimetrically, the project consists in a space divided in 5 areas where to display 5 different kitchen models and a meeting room-office separated trough a sliding doors.
Conceptually, the minimal design and the refinement of the materials are emphasized through the contrast with an environment with industrial tones with exposed ceilings with visible pipes, walls with a micro cement finish and fire hidrant only slightly screened by sliding doors in wooden stripes with an oriental design.
The 5 rooms, fluidly connected through the use of a single ceramic floor with a Piasentina stone effect, are identified by floating islands on the ceiling corresponding to the islands of the kitchens below and in strong chromatic contrast with the concrete beams and pipes left exposed and painted dark grey.
Great attention has been paid to the study of light: a combination of technical and decorative lamps in perfect material and chromatic dialogue with the woods, metals and marbles of the kitchens and skilfully placed to illuminate the paths and exhibition areas.
Visible through the large windows overlooking an urban garden, the kitchen showroom lives from “breakfast to dinner", flooded first by natural light and then emphasized by artificial light.
