In the heart of DhanMill, Delhi, where the pulse of tradition beats alongside the rhythm of modernity, Zariin the jewellery store, crafted by the visionary, Ar. Anjali Aggarwal, the founder and principal designer of Karigar Design Studio, is a journey through time and a celebration of the union between meaningful design and the embrace of nature that stands tall as a living testament to the harmonious marriage of history and contemporary design.
As one approaches the store, the black and white façade beckons tell a tale of simplicity and sophistication. The deliberate color palette pays homage to traditional forms, gracefully intertwining the elegance of the past with the freshness of the present. It is a visual overture, a prelude to the immersive ambience that awaits within.
Upon crossing the threshold, the interiors unfold like the pages of a carefully curated story. Bathed in subdued white, with accents of gentle yellow highlighting niches, the store's ambiance breathes life into every meticulously crafted piece on display.
While designing the store the main constraint was optimum utilization of a space less than 250 sq.ft, to create a mesmerizing facade along with elaborate interior displays, giving birth to the idea of a common wall for internal & external display with arched windows, crafting a cohesive design & creating more space. These arches blend traditions with contemporary in the heart of modern DhanMill, becoming the main concept for the store's design.
The strategic placement of the skylight over an already existing tree in the center became a nod to ancient monuments, where nature seamlessly intertwines with architecture. This deliberate choice infuses the store with an aura, making visitors a participant of narratives unfolding at every step.
For Ar. Anjali Aggarwal, passionate for meaningfully designing spaces, the flagship store becomes a canvas. She describes the space as more than a retail store. Her design journey is inspired by the brand’s jewelry pieces that are a reflection of the rich tapestry of India's cultural heritage and vernacular traditions crafted with a modern approach, bridging the gap between old-world charm and contemporary minimalism. Her vision echoes through the store, where every corner seems to whisper tales of creativity.
