za bor
architects office is situated in an outhouse that used to be one of stores of
Soviet "kitchen-factory"
(canteen for the plant workers) of the FirstState
bearing plant. When the architects started to reconstruct the half-ruined
four-story old building -- main structure in this complex (1932 YrBlt) – they
had to spend a lot of time at the object, so that is why they've moved an
office from the down street and developed it in one of the "kitchen-factory"outbuildings.
While
creating their own office, the architects decided to use industrial aesthetics
of complex as much as possible: in the former storehouse the old brickwork was
opened and whitewashed, the original wooden beams were coloured grey – one of
the base colours of the office. Frameworks for the furniture and big table used
as places for meeting clients and journalists were made from rough steel
profiles channels and I-beams, used for
the reconstruction of "kitchen-factory"
building.
The main
dominating structure in the office space is a bright yellow structure that has
become a main sight of the "za bor style".
Lavatory and shower room, dressed with grey ceramic granite, are hidden there.
Today,
after the reconstruction the main building of former factory-kitchen is
occupies by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the MosObl bank office
and several other companies.
