Time forever forks to countless future. — Jorge Luis Borges
This space is not only a modern space designed to function, but also a historical site which reconnects with the contemporary era in a viewable and accessible way and steps into the future.
01.The River of Time: Flowing From the Past to the Future
In the late Southern Song Dynasty, Guo Shoujing, an astronomer in Xingtai, formulated the Shoushi Calendar, which was in use for more than 360 years. At that time, Xingtai had been built for nearly 3,000 years, during which the city maintained organizational system and never changed its location. In 2018, the first grain depot of Xingtai was relocated, and Yuesheng Art Park was built with more than 300 pines and 1,000 stones, aiming to compensate the regret of Shang Dynasty (Xingtai used to be the capital city of Shang Dynasty).
600 million years ago, the Taihang area where Xingtai locates was a vast ocean with high and low tides. Swamps were widespread. Millions of years later, the magnificent Taihang Mountains rose in this area due to constant crustal movement. While compared with the river of time, all these is a drop in the ocean.
Today, the design of the specific modern space reflects the city’s long history with a futuristic look.
02. Space Travel: The Cosmic Revelation
What is the cosmos? It can be defined as the space and time, a combination of orders. While to the designers, the cosmos could be the vastest space to be constructed with creativity.
In the space, the modern design of walls resembles the urban fabric and mountain ranges, giving a sense of a fusion of urban history, present and future. The tiles scatter the silver light, viewers feeling that the star map is within reach.
The space is a microcosm of the city, the sky, the rivers and the history displayed in front of your eyes, waiting to be explored. It is as if human being had arrived at another Age of Exploration, one in which risks and possibilities could coexist, and fearless fantasy could go beyond reason.
At the moment when you enter the park, time and space overlap instantaneously. The night falls and the stars hang upside down within reach, shining on the golden wheat which is plump-eared.
The stairway, acting as a time-space tunnel, connects the outside with the Exhibition and Convention Center. The instantaneous collage of time and space gives visitors a feeling that they are transported from the real world to an experience space.
The city, the mountains, the starry sky and the wheat field meet the space in an abstract way, which is made possible by the magic of design. The experience of exploration transcends any narration or symbolic meaning -- the wall blocks, the star map illuminating the road, the electronic seawater changing colors and undulating... The nature, the city, and human history meet here through the time-space tunnel.
Science and technology, architecture, and civilization have been developing in the past years, but the cosmos roams in time and space, remaining unchanged. The vector quantity of speed disappears in the cosmos, everything seeming to have no end.
03 . The Exploration of Values: From the Space Design Strategy
Yuesheng Tianxiyin The City Exhibition and Convention Center was built in July, 2021, which is located on the basement level 1 of the sales center of Yuesheng Tianxiyin in the city center of Xingtai, with a gross area of 1,545 square meters. JINDESIGN is responsible for the spacial experience planning and interior design, aiming to create an integrated commercial space which features high traffic, more frequency of visiting and high stickiness of customers.
The design strategy, on the one hand, is consistent with the proprietor’s corporate culture derived from Taoism; on the other hand, it explores the relationship between the space and the city’s humanistic attributes and history, which enables the fast developing city and company to place emotions no matter what directions they take in the future.
The seawater rises and falls along the time. Billions of blue stars shine in the cosmos.
Our ancient city is like a fresh grain of wheat in the field of the cosmos. This grain of wheat feeds us for generations, with its thin body waving in the field but standing firmly in the changing surroundings.
