Projektil designed a conversion of a production hall in a technology park to a headquarters of an international IT company.
The technology park is situated in Brno – the moravian metropolis. There are many quality universities and science centers there, which was also the reason for creating such premises, which connect academic environment with business. This location proved to be ideal for the progressive company Y-Soft.
The task was to design the company headquarters, with representative areas as well as effective work stations and production area for software, and hardware components. One of the main challenges was how to present the change of the building’s purpose, given the requirement for the outer structure to remain unaltered. We have invited young graphic designers from Very Popular Office to help us with this task.
The main motto of the design is to project the change of the interior content on the outside. To achieve that Projektil invited several young artists: Jan Vytiska, Jaromír Hárovník, Ondřej Šorm, Jaromír Skácel, Filip Kraus
The facade represents the outdoor WALL GALLERY. The first work of art was created in three days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYZ9ZYce9ic
Note to the video: When the artwork was finished some of the representatives of the client were slightly uneasy about it and had troubles embracing it. So we turned to our computers to get together a compilation of references that we sent to the board meeting.
After that they changed their minds and the idea and the artwork was accepted.
Another task was to find a solution to a specific problem we have encountered: how to bring light to the deep disposition of the production hall. We have placed two entrances in the front facade and two open outdoor atria in the premises of the building. In this way we have achieved well-arranged and clear space within the building.
Golden walls brighten the entrance area of the reception from which we can ascend to the managers' offices floor. The whole interior is permeated with bold colours.
The main shared spaces and meeting rooms are logically situated around the atria. These spaces may visually become a part of the atria but they also may become, with a single drag of a curtain, a private area ideal for meetings and presentations. The individual offices have glassed walls into the corridor and can be visually divided from it in the same way as the atria.
The double staircases at the end of the open space area lead us to the glassed wall of the back entrance and allows us to continue to the outdoor seating with smoking area.
The context of the relaxation garden in the atria and the relatively bold green colour of the technology park is apparent.
Conclusion:
The most important thing for us while working on a project, is to choose the right people to cooperate with. We’re really glad, that in this case, where we could not alter the outer architecture of the building, the concept of the WALL GALLERY was pushed through. It is a concept we believe in, we also hope in its further development and we are looking forward the responses of the passers-by.
