A Chicagoland nonprofit hired OKW to expand their facilities, services, and impact on the
local community.
Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook primarily serves adolescents and their families
with mental health services. Children as young as ten years old through college students
visit the center for activity-based therapy, which has been shown to more effectively
foster open and honest communication.
Given the growing need for these services, the organization asked us to help them add
more therapy rooms as well as office space for therapists. Our intervention addresses
both needs — as well as providing more parking spaces — by adding a new volume to the
existing brick building and infilling what is currently an atrium with floor space below and
therapy rooms above.
This project is not only an opportunity to expand and improve the functions of an
organization, but providing additional lifelines to teens who need them.
