This installation is a three-dimensional neighborhood map mounted in the storefront windows of VAMOS Architects’ ground floor office. The project is part of our ongoing commitment to use our street presence to actively engage with passersby. At first glance, the installation looks like an arbitrary pattern. Upon closer inspection, the window mullions reveal themselves as streets and the white foam “baffles” become clear as buildings. The map highlights public spaces that are both accessible from the street or remarkable in some way. Parallel to its physical presence, the map also has a digital layer of information embedded in QR codes that link to demographics, factoids, and stories about the urban spaces on the map.
