Our task was to show this historical era through the eyes of the famous Soviet photographer and turn a large-scale retrospective of his work into a personal story of his development.
To do this, we created several interactive installations, supplementing them with audio materials and a visual navigation system. In the section dedicated to the chronicle of the Nuremberg trials, thanks to special headphones, everyone could listen to real witness testimonies and, like a judge, switch between them with a bang of the gavel. An exhibit with excerpts from the photographer's personal diary was accompanied by an audio performance in which an actor read excerpts.
Another installation was created for the iconic photograph “The Flag over the Reichstag”: with the help of 3D tools, the photograph “came to life” and visitors found themselves on the streets of liberated Berlin.
Through interaction with each installation, visitors were deeply immersed in the creative life of Yevgeny Khaldey and appreciated the importance of his work.
