The client's goal was to rebuild the formerly closed and subdivided interior of an existing high-rise condominium into an open, light and warm home. Bleached oak and white lacquer millwork walls conceal a system of storage cabinets and hidden doors that give the space a continuous flow from one room to the next. All systems including plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, electrical, lighting, security, audio-visual, and window coverings were replaced and are now controllable with the client's mobile device. The master ensuite features a sculptural bathtub surrounded by a glass shelf with integral uplighting that highlights the subtle relief in the ceramic tile above. In the main living space audio speakers surround the TV but are concealed behind a fabric that controls sound for an optimal acoustic effect. The stainless steel and bleached oak kitchen island moves from dining table height to counter height with the touch of a button. Smoked and oiled, wide-plank wood flooring tie the spaces together and provide a rich, warm tone throughout. This project was designed in collaboration with Ly Tang.
