Our clients from the Selah valley of Yakima presented ecco with a rare opportunity to design a home sensitive to and inspired by their rich, abundant property.
To minimize the home's impact on the land, we nestled the entry into an existing knoll and preserved the natural slope of the site by holding a portion of the house above the grassland on concrete columns. By locating the more private uses of the home in the raised portion, we created a quiet, elevated refuge. And with the position of the home on the site, the family enjoys astounding views of the valley from every room.
This also showcases ecco's green design, incorporating a water-efficient irrigation system, sun screening overhangs, enhanced solar glazing, and articulation that provides shelter from prairie winds.
