The lighting design for Xi'an CCBD focuses on the seamless integration of culture, technology, and spatial experience, setting a new benchmark for lighting design in commercial complexes.
Based on the "Tree" concept that draws inspiration from a millennium-old ginkgo tree in Xi'an, the design team reimagined this natural motif through modern lighting. Custom hidden floodlights and 29 concealed projectors create dynamic light and color transitions. The skylight features hidden linear lights and adjustable spotlights, contributing to a unique visual effect. Landscape lighting mimics the texture of tree branches, with multifunctional, integrated light posts.
Functionally, the lighting is precisely tailored to serve the building's functions, enhancing the commercial space without compromising on user experience. For example, anti-glare design ensures an unaffected shopping experience. Landscape lights combine both functionality and artistry, with the lamp posts on pedestrian streets integrating multiple systems.
The design employs high-efficiency, energy-saving LED fixtures, an intelligent lighting control system, and custom optical lenses in some areas. The in-ground lights are designed with anti-glare and waterproof properties, reducing energy consumption, light pollution, and maintenance costs.
The project was executed in phases, with sample testing carried out first to ensure feasibility before broader implementation. This approach allowed the lighting system to be completed with high quality in a short time frame, minimizing any disruption to commercial operations.
In this project, the lighting designers worked closely with an international team of various professions, making joint efforts to maximize both aesthetic and commercial value. As key element of the spatial narrative, the lighting merges business, culture, and technology, offering new possibilities for the city's nighttime landscape. The design also provides fresh ideas for shaping the lighting environments of future commercial spaces, delivering social, economic, and environmental benefits.
