To rebrand its image and keep pace with the shipping company’s explosive growth, Worldwide Express wanted its headquarters in Deep Ellum to support a social culture of connection, enhance its hybrid workforce, and create a sense of community. Encompassing the top two floors of The Stack located in the historic center of Dallas’ energetic art, music, and entertainment scene, the future-forward space embraces different levels of diversity and flexibility to support organizational growth. Floor-to-ceiling windows framing extraordinary views of the downtown Dallas skyline and historic references to the eclectic neighborhood celebrate the surrounding community and instill pride and passion for the company’s vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.
The space inspires employees to do their best work and provide the best service to clients by strategically supporting all workstyles -- both digitally and in person. The open floor plan in the reception area and break room sparks moments of connection between employees. Operable glass walls in the training and conference rooms and glass-fronted offices lining the corridor create collaborative spaces inviting employees to relate and work with each other. Integrated technology supports virtual meetings to connect remotely and increase productivity.
The hospitality-forward design champions employees and celebrates the local social culture with a modern industrial lounge area and intimate library. Cozy sofas and swivel chairs encourage after-hours gatherings while pendant speakers, retro pinball machines, and whimsical artwork encourage teamwork and fun. The Deep Ellum vibe comes alive in a mural with lotus flowers and a crouching tiger, handmade pottery populating the monumental stair, and corrugated steel finishes referencing the shipping industry. Black wallcoverings with gold accents, framed oil paintings of animals in suits, and mid-century furniture escalate the cool factor. State Fair posters and scaled black-and-white photos referencing the jazz era salute the roots that brought us Leadbelly and Blind Lemon and promote Worldwide Express’ workplace culture that capitalizes on teamwork and merges transportation with modern technology.
